The Human Rights of West African People are promoted and protected at various levels, including the United Nations Human Rights framework. The International Criminal Court protection mechanism. The African Union Human Rights framework including the African charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the African Court. Institutions such as United Nations office for West African and the Sahel provides additional protection, ECOWAS Treaty and ECOWAS Court provides Human Rights protection for its Citizens. National Constitutions, Laws, Policies and Institutions also provides Human Rights protections for Citizens in their respective Countries, such as Protection provided by the National Human Rights Institutions.
